Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) has been recognized as a popular material for the fabrication of MF/UF membranes due to its high mechanical strength and chemical resistance. Asahi Kasei is a pioneer of PVDF Hollow Fiber Membranes, and we have successfully put PVDF membrane into practical use in many applications and accumulated experiences for more than 4 years.

- Symmetric structure from outer to inner surface.
- Uniform pore and sharp pore size distribution.
- High bonding network, higher mechanical strength and porosity.

Asahi is the pioneer to develop PVDF hollow fibers. Due to high success rate in USA market, it became the market leader in PVDF hollow fibers. Asahi hollow fibers membranes are made of high crystalline PVDF material.
High Crystalline PVDF
PVDF became so popular that most of the PES, PE membrane makers had switched toproducePVDF membrane as well. Not all PVDF membranes makers made homogenous structure except Asahi.
Therefore, it is suitable for wide application such as:
- Drinking water from river, reservoir or well
- Pretreatment of RO in Sea water desalination
- Waste water Reuse (Newater in Singapore)
- Pretreatment of RO in Semiconductor UPW system

2. High Chemical resistance able to clean various type of fouling substances with high concentration of alkali and acid- NAOH–4% (To clean organic substances, colloidal silica)
- H2SO4, HCL, Citric Acid–10%(To clean inorganic colloid)
- Oxalic Acid–2%(To clean inorganic colloid, eg. Manganese)
- NaOCL–5,000ppm as Cl2(To clean Fungi, organic compound)
- Wide PH range for chemical cleaning: 1-1
3. Long life span due to physically tough High Crystalline PVDF membrane.
4. Easy operation and automated maintenance.
5. High Permeate Flux due to many permeability pores on membrane.
6. Sharp pore size distribution of pore size 0.1 micron.
7. Stable operation and less cleaning frequency.
8. TIPS Technology with homogeneous membrane structure.
9. High integrity, able to detect minimal pore size of 3micron conform to EPA standard.
10. Low SDI prolong the RO membrane life.
11. No coagulant dosing required.
12. Outside to Inside filtration robust design give less fouling onto membrane. Able to effectively operate in different and unexpected water conditions.
